Learning the basics.

Today was my first day of using any camera equipment, Our teacher (Nuray) was showing us how to correctly use the Canon XF100 and the tripod. It was a huge struggle for the whole group to get the equipment working properly. Whilst the other group filmed their opening to Fahrenheit 451 which mainly consisted on zooming in on antenna, this created the perfect opportunity to show us the initial workings of the camera.

Props and Location

Props for Saturday night fever.

Over the period of this weekend, I will be on the look out for a red large-collared shirt and some Italian-styled shoes for the Saturday night fever shoot. We found a black leather jacket from drama department and will be using that in the shoot as well. We also had to find a paint tin for dimtri to hold.
As seen in the picture on the right we were on the look out for the red large collared shirt.









Later today I will also be looking for a suitable location to make the shots. We already have a few spots in mind, in particular Golders Green high street and Golders Green Station would be a perfect location to do the filming ,providing we get clearance to film at the station by the manager of the station.







The final location is the Pizza Hut in Golders Green which we will be using to re-inact the scene where John Travolta walks into the pizzeria.  Once again we will need conformation by the manager to film inside

WORKING IN GROUPS - THE OPENING

Preparation for filming


Today we made our timeline for the movie Saturday night fever. This was a difficult task because there were various camera angles and titles we also had to write down the timing of each shot different shot which was very tedious. Dmitri another member of the group also got around to listing various props needed to film the opening sequence.





We also got around to testing the John Travolta walk and seeing who would be suitable to do the strut. This was to be decided between me and Dimitri. Dmitri ended up playing Travolta because of his superior skill in walking.

Foley editing

Foley is the reproduction of everyday sound effects that are added to film, video, and other media in post production to enhance audio quality. These reproduced sounds can be anything from the swishing of clothing and footsteps to squeaky doors and breaking glass. The best Foley art is so well integrated into a film that it goes unnoticed by the audience It helps to create a sense of reality within a scene. Without these crucial background noises movies feel unnaturally quiet and uncomfortable.

Montages

Montages

In movies montages are used to show a passage of time going by in a short period of time. In most movies I believe that montages are used to show self improvement of a particular character as you will see in these examples.

Filming for the remake

Today we are going to be filming another group opening sequence to Fahrenheit 451. Here we will be the crew for the other group, this way we can learn how to use the equipment correctly and safely. The opening consists of zooming into satellites so a tripod will most likely be used in the filming of Fahrenheit 451
